Rand Fisher is uniquely qualified to introduce and help deliver the services and support of the Center for Infrastructure and Economic Development. The Center has been recently established with a mission of helping local communities prosper in an era of energy diversification.
Fisher’s entire career has been devoted to helping public officials, economic development leaders, business organizations, and others with policy, programs, and projects leading the way to new investment, job creation, and community prosperity. His work experience includes service to local and state government, economic development organizations, and utilities.
After serving 25 years as President of the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) he retired in January 2022. Under his leadership, IADG became nationally recognized for implementing a comprehensive approach to both business and community development. The accomplishments and contributions of the organization have been honored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Small Business Administration, USDA Rural Development, Keep America Beautiful, and others.
Fisher is a Past President of the National Rural Economic Developers Association and the Iowa Rural Development Council. He has served on numerous boards including Iowa Community Development, Iowa Association of Business and Industry, Iowa State University’s Center for Industrial Research and Service, and Iowa’s Small Business Development Centers.
Fisher has a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa and graduated magna cum laude from Luther College.
He and his wife, Cyndi, have three grown children and five grandkids.
