Governor Branstad is the longest-serving governor in U.S. history, having served as governor from 1983-1999 and 2011-2017. He was sworn in as Ambassador to China in May of 2017 and served until October of 2020.
Previously, Branstad served as president of Des Moines University and led them to receive, for the first time in the U.S., the “Platinum Level of Recognition” award from the Wellness Council of America.
Governor Branstad has a strong history of working with leaders at the local, state and federal levels to advocate the benefits of renewable energy development.
